"On 3 April 2025, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) released a notification revising the inspection checklist for the licensing and registration of food businesses. The update involves a significant change: inspection points related to food packaging materials—previously classified as ""non-critical""—are now reclassified as ""critical"" for the following sectors: Milk and dairy processing Meat processing Fish and fish product processing Catering services As per the revised checklist, food businesses in these sectors must use packaging materials certified as legal under Indian regulations. Specifically, the packaging must be accompanied by a certificate of legality issued by a NABL-accredited laboratory, aligning with the 2018 packaging regulations."
