On January 30, 2025, the European Commission issued Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/167, authorizing the marketing of glucosyl hesperidin as a novel food within the EU. Glucosyl hesperidin is now permitted for use in soft drinks associated with physical exercise, energy drinks, and food supplements (excluding those intended for infants). The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) assessed the safety of glucosyl hesperidin and concluded that it is safe under the specified conditions of use. Consequently, the Union list of novel foods in Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/2470 has been updated to include glucosyl hesperidin.
