The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA) assessed whether bovine milk whey protein concentrate (WPC) containing milk fat globular membrane (MFGM) qualifies as a novel food under Regulation (EU) 2015/2283. The product, produced using membrane filtration, consists of 71% protein and 19% fat, with higher phospholipid and sphingomyelin content compared to standard WPC. It has been marketed in the EU since before 15 May 1997, including in infant and follow-on formulas. Consequently, the DVFA concluded that this WPC MFGM is not considered a novel food
