ANSES Issues Warning Against Consumption of Garcinia Cambogia Supplements

The French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) has issued a warning advising consumers to avoid food supplements containing the plant Garcinia cambogia. Despite its prohibition in medicinal products, Garcinia cambogia is still found in dietary supplements. ANSES highlights that consumption of these supplements can lead to severe adverse effects, including acute hepatitis, even in individuals without prior health issues. This alert is based on multiple reports of such adverse effects, prompting ANSES to strongly advise against the use of supplements containing this plant.
