On 12 February 2026, VietQ.vn (Vietnam Quality Newspaper), In Vietnam's textile and garment industry, which faces growing pressure to meet global supply chain requirements for governance transparency and ESG standards, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in human resource management is emerging as a key solution to enhance internal productivity and operational efficiency.
A pilot project conducted at a textile company operating a closed-chain model (yarn – weaving – dyeing – garment finishing) with 422 employees across 73 job positions demonstrated significant improvements. The company, which exports to demanding markets such as Japan and complies with standards including OEKO-TEX, ZDHC, ISO 14001, and SA8000, previously relied on largely manual HR processes. These included lengthy job description development (4–5 days per JD), competency assessments taking 4–5 weeks, non-SMART KPIs, and only 25–35% standardized documentation, resulting in seniority-biased salary mechanisms lacking clear links between job value, competency, and performance.
The pilot, implemented from June to November 2025 in collaboration with a research team, integrated AI tools with the 3P payroll system (Position – Person – Performance) to transform HR management from experience-based to data-driven, quantitative, and transparent practices.
Key Results Achieved:
A. Job Description (JD) creation time reduced to 2.5–3 days, boosting JD development productivity by 25–30%.
B. 100% of JDs standardised and fully integrated with ESG requirements.
C. Overall personnel processing productivity increased by 20–30%, depending on job position.
D. Standardised HR records across the board, reduced subjective/emotional factors in evaluations, transparent salary mechanisms, and establishment of a professional HR data platform.
The initiative highlights that AI serves as an "intellectual assistant" rather than a replacement for humans, accelerating processes, standardizing operations, and enabling cost-effective innovation in HR management. This approach supports sustainable development, better compliance with international ESG and transparency demands, and enhanced competitiveness for Vietnam's textile and garment enterprises amid digital transformation
