UK Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging: Check the Public Registers

On 3 February 2026, the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) updated guidance on the public registers for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging. UK producers, compliance schemes, and reprocessors/exporters who are obligated under EPR can be searched through these registers. The registers provide details such as producer size (large or small), registration numbers, group and subsidiary information, and the accreditation status of reprocessors and exporters. Compliance schemes can assist producers by reporting data and paying registration fees, while reprocessors and exporters can demonstrate their accreditation to issue Packaging Recycling Notes (PRNs) and Packaging Export Recycling Notes (PERNs). These registers are updated regularly and support transparency, auditing, and verification of EPR compliance.
