On 4 February 2026, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) circulates an addendum at the request of the delegations of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The addendum informs WTO Members that the Draft East African Standard DEAS 13: 2022 -Packaged mineral water - Specification, previously notified, & it has been officially adopted by Tanzania on 31 October 2025 as the national standard TZS 573:2025 / EAS 13: 2023 - Packaged mineral water - Specification.
This harmonised East African Standard (EAS) establishes detailed requirements for the quality, purity, microbiological safety, labelling, packaging, and testing methods of packaged natural mineral water intended for human consumption. Tanzania’s adoption marks the formal implementation of the standard in one of the East African Community member states.
