The Saudi Food and Drug Authority has issued Administrative Order No. 36498 dated 20 February 2026, lifting the temporary ban on the importation of poultry meat, eggs, and their products originating from Maine-et-Loire, France. The update was notified to the World Trade Organization under notification G/SPS/N/SAU/604/Add.2.

Previously, the SFDA had imposed a temporary import ban through Administrative Order Ref. No. 24733 dated 1 December 2025, covering poultry meat, eggs, and related products from the French departments of Deux-Sèvres, Ain, and Maine-et-Loire due to concerns related to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI).

Following a report issued on 6 February 2026 by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), confirming that Maine-et-Loire is free from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus, Saudi authorities decided to remove the import restrictions for this region.

The decision allows the resumption of imports of poultry meat, eggs, and related products from Maine-et-Loire, while the restrictions on the other affected French regions remain subject to ongoing evaluation.
