On 9 April, 2026, the International Collaboration on Cosmetics Safety (ICCS) will host a practical, implementation-focused webinar as part of the launch of its NAMs in Practice: ICCS Best Practice Guidance Webinar Series, dedicated to advancing animal-free safety assessment in cosmetics. This webinar builds on the Best Practice Guidance Document released in July 2025, which promotes the use of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for skin sensitization assessment and has been widely welcomed by regulators and safety assessors as a milestone toward harmonised, evidence-based evaluation frameworks.
The session will concentrate on translating guidance into real-world regulatory practice. It will demonstrate how OECD Guideline 497 defined approaches, including the 2 out of 3 (2o3) approach, the Integrated Testing Strategy (ITS), and the SARA-ICE model, can be applied in regulatory risk assessment to support scientifically robust and reliable decision-making without animal testing. Through practical case examples, participants will gain clarity on data integration, interpretation of results, and justification of conclusions within regulatory submissions.
This webinar represents a critical step in operationalising NAMs for cosmetic ingredient safety, bridging the gap between theoretical frameworks and everyday regulatory application. It also sets the foundation for a continuing ICCS webinar series that will accompany future Best Practice Guidance documents. Overall, the initiative strengthens international collaboration, enhances consistency in skin sensitization assessment, and supports the global transition toward more ethical, innovative, and scientifically advanced cosmetic safety evaluation methods.
