EFSA assessed GM soybean DBN9004, engineered for tolerance to glufosinate-ammonium and glyphosate herbicides, and concluded it is as safe as conventional soybeans for food, feed, and environmental use. The soybean contains a single genetic insert expressing CP4 EPSPS and PAT proteins, with no safety concerns identified regarding toxicity, allergenicity, or nutritional value. Comparative field trials and compositional analyses showed no significant differences requiring further assessment. A 90-day rat feeding study and dietary exposure estimates for humans and animals confirmed no adverse effects. Environmental risks, including gene transfer and persistence, were deemed negligible, and no post-market monitoring was recommended.
