Key highlights:
Product Details: The approved product consists of cultured quail cells derived from embryonic fibroblasts of Japanese quail, blended with other ingredients to form items like logs, rolls, and patties.
Regulatory Framework: This approval is part of a broader new regulatory framework for cell-cultured foods, ensuring safety and transparency in the emerging alt-protein sector.
Publication & Access: The final measure is available via the FSANZ Circular 345-25 and the New Zealand Gazette.
This move positions New Zealand among the early adopters of cultivated meat technologies, supporting innovation while maintaining food safety standards.
