On January 14, 2026, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) of the Peoples Republic of China published an announcement regarding the review of applications for the first batch of environmental management registration certificates for new chemical substances in 2026. In accordance with the Measures for the Registration of Environmental Management of New Chemical Substances (MEE Order No. 12), the Ministry reviewed routine registration applications submitted by several enterprises, and determined that the applications meet the relevant regulatory requirements. A total of seven new chemical substances covering production and import activities were proposed for approval, with certain substances subject to post-inclusion environmental management requirements after being listed in the List of Existing Chemical Substances in China. The first batch of new chemical substances to be approved in 2026 are:
Benzoic acid (2-(benzyloxy)-4-methoxy-6-methylpyridine-3-yl) methylamine salt
3-ethyl-3-[(ethylethyloxy-2-ylmethoxy)methyl]oxyheterocyclobutane
Polymers of 1,3-phthalic acid with 1,4-phthalic acid, (1,1'-bipheny)-4,4'-diol, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, and 6-hydroxy-2-naphthalene acid
Tetrafluoroboric acid (1-)1,1-dimethylpyrrolidine salt (1:1).
Aluminum ethylpropyl hypophosphonate hybrid
