Australias AICIS Adds Industrial Chemicals to Inventory Following Five-Year Post-Assessment Period

On January 19th, 2026, the Executive Director of the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) announced that several industrial chemicals have been added to the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC) in accordance with section 82 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019 because five years have passed since the issue of their assessment certificates.
The chemicals listed include a homopolymer ester of propanoic acid (CAS 2170526-45-9) with a listing date of January 15, 2026, and three additional substances neodecanoic acid polymer ester (CAS 1016606-37-3), carbon nanotubes (CAS 308068-56-6), and crambe abyssinica oil esters (CAS 2432898-89-8) all with listing dates of January 16, 2026. Introducers are subject to specific information requirements and must notify AICIS within 28 days if circumstances of their importation or manufacture differ from those in the original assessments, ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory obligations.
